”Hey Siri, give us a hint!”
That was Apple’s tag-line on their website leading up to the September 9th, 2015 keynote announcement. Forget the semantics, and let’s dive right into what we really want to know:
“The only thing that’s changed is everything”
Apple announced two new iPhones: the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus.
There are a lot of internal changes to the iPhones this time around, but key differences include:
-Bumping the rear camera megapixels from 8 to 12
-The front camera has been updated to 5 mega pixels and the front display acts as a flash so you can take even better selfies!
-A new Rose Gold colour
-Optical image stabilization on both models and the ability to record 4k videos
Of course, there are also changes and upgrades to the A9 chip CPU and the GPU (70% and 90% faster).
These new iPhones are also slightly bigger and heavier than their predecessor.
Weight and Dimensions
Please see the chart below for exact details:
So…will your existing cases fit these new iPhones? The simple answer is “they should”.
However, there are some vendors that have informed Cesium otherwise. OtterBox has stated that their products will fit, except for the Defender line-up. This being the case, new Defenders are coming and will need to be ordered for the new iPhones.
Vendors such as Uncommon, Ballistic and Verus are already compatible! LifeProof will have new product for the new iPhones. We can expect to see them by late October. We are still waiting for confirmation from Moshi, Griffin and a few others.
Please be assured that all product has been properly labeled as compatible or not on CesiumOnline.com. You should see product compatibility right in the initial description.
Example: Verus VRI6SHPSDS High Pro Shield iPhone 6/6S Black
Since many of the existing SKUs are already compatible with the new iPhones you can go ahead and label them as such (just make sure you cross verify), and also start your pre-orders with us!
We’re looking forward to the new iPhone launch!
