If you’re looking to add some extra screen room for your laptop, and want to make it easy (no extra video cards, etc), consider investing in something like this.

This is the Asus MB168B 15 inch widescreen LED/LCD USB monitor. DSC_0080It’s a portable monitor. The MB168B is powered by a single micro USB (3.0) cable (included). You can power it with your USB 2.0 port, but it may affect brightness and image quality. DSC_0077It comes with a sleeve case that doubles as the stand. Super slim (8mm) and light weight (only 1.7 pounds). This monitor is slim enough it fits in my Targus laptop bag and the Kensington Metro backpack very easily.

The screen resolution is 1366 x 768 HD resolution…which is a weird, but it works well and looks great. Asus also has a 1080p version (MB168B+) that comes at a higher cost. Still, I had no issues streaming video to this monitor and it looked great. DSC_0078There is a power button and brightness adjust buttons on the left side of the monitor. The MB168B automatically senses its orientation and switches the display between landscape and portrait based on its position; while backlight brightness is also automatically adjusted based on environmental lighting—getting brighter in the light and dimmer in the dark. Response time is 11ms, so your eyes won’t strain using this monitor for long periods.

This is a great investment for any laptop or desktop setup. DSC_0079It has a beautiful metallic finish on the back. Feels and looks very premium. You should be able to find it for under $200.
